About Our Lab
- The Imagineering lab is a central facility for concept design and product realization. The processes of design, simulation and manufacturing are integrated with a digital environment. The facility also serves the professional course requirements of Students of various Streams. It also provides an Infrastructure for sponsored research and industrial consultancy.
- The Imagineering lab houses state-of-the-art CAD and CAM tools with the latest capabilities in shape acquisition. modelling. and prototyping. They have helped in radically expanding the domain of geometric shapes that can be realized for any product.

Dr. Janakarajan Ramkumar
Dr Janakarajan Ramkumar is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, and Design Program, at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He teaches manufacturing science, micro/nanotechnology, and new product development. He has a bachelor’s in Production Engineering with his doctorate in Defect quantification in the drilling of composites from IIT Madras, India with the best thesis award. Over the years his contribution to teaching and research has been remarkable. Professor Ramkumar has authored several highly cited research papers and executed a number of projects. His efforts have helped redraft and revamp several courses for diplomas and ITIs. He has tremendously contributed to rural technology as well. Post COVID-19, he has been trying to develop biomedical devices and is striving to establish small-scale start-up companies. He is very innovative and scientific-minded. With all these qualities, he is very modest.
Dr. Amandeep Singh
Dr Amandeep Singh works as Research Establishment Officer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He holds a PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, and a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering. Dr Singh has twelve years of industrial and academic experience. His research interests are Sustainable Manufacturing Processes and Systems, Simulation of Manufacturing Systems, Design and Manufacturing for Medical/Agro products, Applied Ergonomics and Engineering Metrology. He is an innovative product designer and has recently contributed to bringing many COVID-19 mitigating devices. He has travelled in countries like the US, Canada, and Australia to present his research at various international conferences organized by reputed bodies like CIRP and IEOM. He has several patents in his profile, and his research is also published in various international reputed journals.
